What does the semicolon tattoo mean

What  does the semicolon tattoo mean?

It is part of the movement called Project Semicolon.

This movement is dedicated to showing hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury. Those who have struggled with mental illness, or know someone who has, are encouraged to get a tattoo of the semicolon as a sign of solidarity.

I have suffered with chronic severe nerve pain and disabling muscle spasms that have led to my own personal knowledge and struggles with depression, suicide and hopelessness. This is why I have chosen to get my own tattoo.
The tattoo I chose to get says, "my story isn't over yet ;". For me, it reminds me of my own personal commitment to choose living.
Some people may say choosing to live isn't that hard. To some it is extremely hard.We may never never understand completely what others may be going through.

There are so many people who are affected by a friend or loved ones' illness or disease. If getting a tattoo is not your cup-of-tea and I could ask you to do one thing in support of your friend or loved one, is to learn more about their particular illness or disease.

Knowledge is the key. The more you know about what your loved one is going through, the more supportive and helpful you can be. Knowledge and your love is the best way to show you support them.

My experience is with chronic severe pain. I have had thoughts in the past of cutting my legs or arms off because they hurt so bad. No joke. I wasn't thinking real clearly. Being in that much pain, you most definitely evaluate all your options.

I can't wait to get my semicolon tattoo! I will be sure to post an update with pictures soon.
"Dealing with pain everyday, I am curious how I will react to the pain of the tattoo needle."

Don't be scared;Accept help when you need it

I would like to share a very personal experience that happened a while back to me. It was not so funny then but it’s quite hilarious now. This story begins at the hospital ER.

After some back and forth conversations with the doctor about treatment options LOL.  I am asked to stay on at the hospital for some more monitoring. Honestly, it was more like they told me I was staying on at their “Stress Clinic”.
